Every day, in every way, I get better and better!

When I was very young, I used to get very sick. I would typically end up in the hospital having to breathe under an oxygen tent (due to being too young and small for the nose-system) what seemed like every winter. I have many early childhood memories, at different ages and stages of my youth, spent in hospital beds with the crazy and moist 'tent' over my head making the rest of the world seem separate, otherworldly, and strange.

My father during one of these hospital stays, when I was old enough to read comic books on my own, taught me a saying that he asked me to repeat every day to myself whenever I was feeling sad or unwell.

"Every day, in every way, I get better and better and better."

I'm not actually sure if he taught me with the third "better" or not, but that's how the memory of my child-brain stored the saying.

It felt like such a lie, when I started repeating it to myself.

But, my daddy told me to; so I did!

Even when I wasn't in the hospital, I would try to find the truth in the statement...every day, in EVERY way; I get better and better? HA!

'That can't possibly be!' My brain would respond and remind me of all the ways that it WASN'T true. And eventually, probably about the time I stopped listening to my father about anything, I stopped repeating the statement.

Life happened, and you know what...every day, in every way, I got BETTER and better!! Without realizing it in the beginning; eventually I realized the ONLY thing I cared about was progress. Each and every day, as long as there was progress in the direction I was trying to go, I was truly getting better and better and better!

The journey may be a long one. We may not even realize what journey we are on when we begin; but staying committed to our own progress is the key. Truly!

Try it this week, this month, or for the rest of the year...

"Every day in every way, I get better and better!"

Say it as you go to sleep, ignore the thoughts that arise by simply repeating the sentence again. As if in response to each subconscious sabotage sent, simply say the sentence!

"Every day in every way, I get better and better!"

Then, begin to recognize the truth and continue progressing along your journey to who YOU WANT TO BE!!!
