All aboard, it's The 2nd Step!
Returning to our conversation about how to use the imagination to create the life you want, on purpose rather than to live life by default (or even worse, manifest from fears). You now understand the importance of creating a desirable outcome within your imagination; nothing is possible without this first step, as I’ve already explained. We will from here on shorten that concept to: Have a Dream Ending!
So, now what?
“Step two: what steps are needed to succeed?” That’s easy, actually. You assume success!
What does that mean, to assume success?
I will tell you what it doesn’t mean; it doesn’t mean to presume you can’t fail!
The difference between these two mindsets might sound tricky, at first. Yet, once you embrace the reality of it, everything changes about the meaning of “living life to its fullest.” An idyllic concept suddenly becomes tangible, more believable, most importantly actionable.
To presume one cannot fail is to take success for granted – as a given. It is a very positive outlook; unfortunately, it’s utterly unactionable. It is the opposite embodiment of to assume success; meaning, to accept the responsibility to undertake the actions necessary to create the success desired.
There’s your big take away today.
Remembering how to spell the word ‘assume’ has led many to misunderstand the word itself, giving it an unfair negative connotation. As a verb assume means simply to shoulder, undertake, accept, or adopt. So, to assume success means to take the challenge on without excuses.
I understand there are many similarities in assume and presume, like to believe, imagine, or suppose. The point though, is in the differences in the actions created by the words.
Actions to results is the name of this game!
One of my favorite things to teach my clients is that ‘every emotion is a good emotion’, a valuable truth contained within The Secret Language of Feelings by Cal Banyan. There aren’t any bad emotions, just unsatisfactory ways of responding to them. Our emotions are seriously our signposts to sanity, y’all; once we understand them and know how to satisfy them appropriately, we stop running and numbing from them.
Just as some emotions have worse ‘reputations’ than others, there are some words that carry a confusing connotation due to some connection we have to them. To assume success will in no way ‘make an ass’ of you or anyone else; ironically, to presume you can’t fail more likely might!
Now that we understand the vernacular difference between these two concepts, you should be ready to shoulder the burden of creating the outcome you have imagined – Your Dream Ending!
You have imagined your dream ending; you now assume success…so what do you do?
You begin to engage your imagination yet again…it’s your most powerful tool, don’t be afraid of it!
Ask yourself, do you believe in your Dream Ending?
Why or why not?
The whys become your inspiration, motivation, and accountability for accomplishing the tasks that will create your Dream Ending.
The why nots then become the focus of any internal work you are doing. We all have a betterment plan, of some sort; whether it involves our minds, bodies, beliefs, or habits - everyone is on a quest to improve in some way.
If the why nots revolve around fears and limiting beliefs (that you hold about yourself or your place in society) then there is hope in hypnosis!
If the why nots sound anything like: it is impossible; confirm first that nobody ever has ever done anything like it - before you completely give up. Roadmaps exist for almost any adventure, if you look in the right places and seek the right sources.
If your answer revolves around a personal behavior that you can neither control nor understand, then there is hope in hypnosis!
The next installment of this conversation will be to create an action plan culminating our journey to creating the life you want, on purpose!
