Sacrifice for your art: Rosey regains her connection to creativity
“I used to think wine made me paint better. You know?”
A spark of something unrecognizable was beginning to bloom in Rosey’s cheeks. It ushered in an unfamiliar sly smile, just pulling at one corner of her mouth, as she held her tea.
I’d never seen this look in Rosey yet. Almost peaceful.
“I hadn’t picked up my brushes in years, if I’m being totally honest.” She sips from the large steaming mug she’s holding on the other side of my computer-screen.
“As I was cleaning up the mess, right after we hung up...” Looking rather perplexed through the computer screen at my watchful gaze. “I still don’t know how that worked, finding my charger like we did.” Shaking her head, just a bit, she takes a little sip.
A long pause before, “One of my paintings was damaged. While I was angry. It fell from its hook in the hallway.”
I could see her breathing deeply the steam from her tea.
“I was so mad at myself.” Staring at me directly through the screen, “…until, I suddenly wasn’t. I was laughing.” More confusion spreading across her face like a summer storm passes in the mountains. Quickly, yet dramatically. And then, she’s laughing. Really laughing like I hadn’t heard her do yet.
“I mean, I worked on that fucking painting, for 6 months, to get it just right. It was an anniversary gift. Our first anniversary...” her sipping turns to gulping the beverage down. “21 years ago.” The storm returns.
“He hated it.” A fat tear begins to slide slowly down her cheek. “I hate him so much...” there’s now a frog in her throat. I hear it croak as she tries to squeak out, “…it hurts.”
She is simply staring into her mug at this point.
“Can you make that go away as quickly as you made the charger appear?”
“Release your jaw. Exhale. Let your feet feel the floor beneath them. You are grounded in this moment, with me. Breathe gently. Put your tea down. Exhale. And your eyes feel heavy, don’t they?” I ask, fully expecting the nod she gives.
“Allow them to close, comfortably as you slip easily into your deepest relaxation. Focus only on the sound of my voice. Recognize the well of emotion swirling, like the steam of your tea. Breathe it in. You are safe. You are ready...this is why you called me...”

Rosey’s ability to access her emotions comfortably and with confidence has become substantially stronger with each session. It is no wonder she identified her dependence on what was blocking her creativity, blocking her experience with her own inner spark, blocking her ability to freely communicate, blocking her acceptance of what was still possible because she was focusing only on what she thought was blocking her.
She had externalized all of her inner-blockages and it had made her angry. For a very long time. Anger was all she had allowed herself to feel, for decades. It was all she was comfortable recognizing. Anger at the world. Anger at her partner. Anger at herself. Anger at her life. Anger was all she thought she felt. Before learning self-hypnosis.
Now, she can easily recognize, accept, and understand the full palate of colorful emotions available to her. She isn’t afraid of her feelings any longer. Therefore, she is no longer afraid of her responses.
Since Rosey finished her month of working with me, she has re-created her life. She found more satisfying employment. She is painting regularly. She is enjoying the activities that she was resenting having lost contact with. She learned to comfortably set and confidently keep personal boundaries with herself which then led to the ability to do so with everyone else in her life. She and her partner have begun their trial separation and he is finally getting the help he needs.
The ripple effects of these changes are still flowing freely throughout her life. She has energetically embraced the concept that, every day in every way we are getting better and better.
Rosey is now in control of what can be controlled and releases what cannot be controlled.
Rosey now has the ability of mindset management alleviating her discomfort enough to end her explosions that had previously caused her such problems.
