The Limiting Belief of Perfection

Happiest second Tuesday of the month to you, my friends!

The western winds of November are bringing in a beautifully transitional chill for the coming season of coziness.

You may remember me discussing in the past how important it is to imagine what you really want to manifest, so that you can commit to an action plan to create what you want rather than what you most fear. I have called this having a dream ending. Some may assume I am suggesting they try to imagine their perfect life.

I am not.

I would very much like to dedicate today to discussing one of the most limiting beliefs shared by so many of us. The belief that there is a ‘just right’ that we are striving to create or to become. That there are solutions that will create ‘perfect outcomes’ in any of our lives, our societies, and for our world.

This limiting belief is dangerous, potentially disastrous, to the one, the many, and eventually to the whole.

Since I spend my days motivating and coaching individuals to live from their most authentic version of themselves, so that they can be their most super-self that they can imagine, one might mistake I believe there is a perfect version we are attempting to create.

I do not.

The truth of the matter is, at any given time, the concept of ‘just right’ or ‘perfect’ to anything or anyone will result in only one of two actions that technically create the very same outcome.

WHAT?!?

Did I just blow your mind?

Hold on, I promise it will make sense very quickly.

In anything, if there is a concept of perfect or just right there will eventually be one of two results. The first is to believe ‘it’ has been accomplished or obtained. What action does this result create, after the celebration of course? Nothing, stagnation and complacency. The job is done, the prize has been awarded.

The second choice, is to believe ‘it’ is impossible. What action does this overwhelming defeat create, after the sadness runs its course? Nothing, a throwing-up of the hands as the towel is thrown-in.

Therefore, this thought process of thinking in the way we were taught to think as children can limit us and our progress in the areas we may actually value the very most in our life.

There is a different way!

There are ways that support growth from the viewpoint of nurturing the very best rather than focusing on what is considered a lack of growth; or worse yet, proof of backsliding.

There are actually ways to maintain motivation and create more momentum by recognizing incremental successes and nurturing them as far as they can go. This mindset will take you further than you can even imagine as ‘the very best end-result,’ at whatever point you begin.

Recognizing that perfectionistic thinking is a limiting belief it becomes important to realize that seeking progress will always get you further in the long-run!

If each and every day you progress in some small way, you will accomplish so much more than setting a reasonable goal (or even a gigantic one) that you will either reach or not reach, but either way progress has an end point with a perfect ending mentality.

If you prioritize progress, each and every day, you will eventually accomplish more than believing you can or cannot do it ‘just right’. By prioritizing progress, each and every day, tasks become trial & error tactics rather than a solution-oriented attempt. Prioritizing progress, each and every day, allows for more joyful celebrations of the successes created along the way, as part of the final foundation of your future self!

Once you stop taking steps forward toward your goal of who you see yourself to be, you end up being something less than you deserve.

If you are ready to take your next easiest step in the journey towards your most authentic and super self…
